I’ve been a painter all my life
as long as I can remember. I was born in 1939 in Hamburg, Germany.
When I was 20, I decided to immigrate to Australia since
that country intrigued me with its open spaces kindling my
interest in landscape painting.
My paintings, while
in Australia gave me the opportunity to explore the desert and
get a feel for the native flavor of its people. While there,
for two and a half years, the south sea islands of the Pacific
became a fixation in my mind. My first stop was Tahiti with
its lush and colorful scenery and the genuine friendliness of
its people.

In general, the experiences
gained during my extensive travels all over the world are part
of my paintings. The Polynesian islands, however, were the
most significant influence in my artistic career.
Currently
my home and studio are in Denmark ,where I have lived for the
last 45 years but my travels also took me to Africa, the
Mediterranean countries, West Indies and South America.
My
travels also included the United States. Besides visiting all
the major cities, my interest centered on the southern states
such as Alabama, Louisiana, Florida and the Carolinas. Several
of my landscape paintings show the beauty of Alabama. Having
friends in Alabama enabled me to visit that state several
times over the past years.
Most of my paintings are done in
acrylics or oil, although watercolor is also one of my
favorite mediums.
My
work has been widely shown in Denmark and other major European
cities.
